What Is a Fibre Wrap?
Also known as Bonded Polyester Fibre, Dacron, or wadding, a fibre wrap is a soft polyester layer that is glued around your foam cushion.
Benefits of Fibre Wrap:
- Creates a plusher, rounded look
- Softens hard foam edges and sharp corners
- Helps cushion fill out covers more cleanly
- Makes the cushion easier to insert and remove
- Adds a small layer of softness, without affecting sizing
💡 You don’t need to adjust your measurements when adding a fibre wrap — it’s thin and compresses easily.
What Is a Foam Overlay?
A foam overlay is a 25mm layer of softer foam applied to the top and/or bottom of your cushion to give a luxuriously soft feel — ideal if you’re using firm, high-density foam for support.
🧽 When to Use a Foam Overlay:
- For thicker cushions where you want a plush top feel
- When using very firm or high-density foam cores
- To balance support with comfort
- To add a premium finish for lounges, daybeds, or deep seating
Example: For a 150mm thick cushion, you could use a 100mm high density core with 25mm overlay on top and bottom for added softness.
